A Board Game for Adolescents:.
This board game can be kept in the classroom on a bookshelf, where kids can easily access it during recess. Kids can play it to simply have fun and talk about their experiences, or to make parents, teachers and leaders of the community think to change what is inadequate about the educational system. But mainly, this game’s purpose is to hear what the kids have to say about spending significant phases of their lives at school.
Bildungsroman: A German word that encompasses the process of growing up,starting from a person’s formative years, through their adolescent years and up to adulthood. It is a German word for ‘genre’ in literature, that delves into a person’s identity formation. It is a synonym for coming-of-age novels in German.
Goals
To initiate discussion on the challenges faced by teenagers on a daily basis at school.
To offer to adults or late adolescents a platform to relive their experiences as an adolescent, and to reflect on what they would have done differently at each stage. This will raise awareness about such issues so that parents, educators or teenagers could be conscious of all that goes on during this dynamic period of growth.
